Here are helpful hints to maintaining the perfect beard:

First on the list is preparing your skin for the perfect shave:

  • The first step to having the perfect beard is to take care of your skin. It is a must to have a great cleanser, toner and moisturizer. When looking for a cleanser make sure it isn’t going to be too harsh, look for cleansers that have ingredients that are complimentary to your skin, such as peppermint essential oil, aloe vera extracts and jojoba oils to keep your skin soft and clean. Follow up with a toner; it will help rehydrate the skin after cleansing and shaving. Finish off with a moisturizer a good moisturizer should have ingredients like Shea butter, olive oil, glycerin, and essential oils that condition and soften the skin.
  • Second step is taking care of your hair, this is your beard and for your hair on top of your head you need to have a good shampoo, conditioner and combs. For your beard and hair use a wider toothed comb, for your mustache a finer toothed comb. Frequent combing of your beard is a necessity. Since typically the hair on our face is usually more coarse that that on top of your head you will want to be sure to condition it to soften it.

Next is to shave and trim your beard.

1) Pre- Shave oil, this prepares the skin by softening it in preparation for a shave.

2) Lather Up, have a good shave cream that will have prepare the razor to be able to slide against the skin. The best way to lather up is to use a brush with your shaving cream, a brush will help the lather reach all of the hair and also will exfoliate your skin.
